The Sustainable Agriculture Workshop started as an effort to connect ranching to organic farming in the Plumas-Sierra region of California. Now in its 6th year, the workshop has morphed into something much broader with hopes of offering something for everyone, all in the name of Sustainable Agriculture.
The workshop is now a collaboration of 5 sponsoring organizations working together to offer a range of courses that:
- Support existing farmers and ranchers with new technologies and information
- Help beginning farmers and ranchers with practical start-up information
- Inspire homestead enthusiasts to grow more of their own food in a sustainable manner
Our goal is to provide connections between farmers and their consumers, between experienced farmers and new farmers, and between farmers and youth hoping to find a career in agriculture.
The mission of the Sustainable Agriculture Workshop is to further the practice of agriculture, regionally and locally, through an exchange of information. Our goal is to create jobs in agriculture and preserve our agricultural lands, heritage, and lifestyle while providing these local and regional communities with healthy food and land. Come join the fun, and join the vision!
